Overview
Situated along the Yellowstone River, Columbus is a town rich in natural resources, founded for its stone quarry. From here, via the railroad, stones were shipped to Helena in order to construct the State Capitol. Today, Columbus has roughly 2000 occupants, many of whom continue to mine. With superb outdoor recreational opportunity, fishing, hiking, and hunting are all popular activities.
